Nurse Ratchid Sexism

There seems to be some criticism on sexism over Nurse Ratchid. These kinds of things really annoy me. Now to me sexism isn't as common as people think. Yes, the human race tends to be a male dominated society...up till when woman got their rights. Woman need to stop thinking that all males are the same, and do not agree with them. Yes, there are some guys out there that are (not so nice people), and I understand that. But that doesn't mean that all guys are like that. Same vica versa, yes a good amount of girls are crazy, but believe it or not some are not. Honestly, I'm just sick of hearing about it. To me woman are woman and men are men, everyone's just about as equally prejudice against each other nowadays, so just leave it alone.
As for Nurse Ratchid, I honestly do not see where there is anything to do with sexism in the movie. It seems perfectly normal, yes McMurphy was definetly not fond of her, but that does not mean that it is sexism. I think that people freak about this stuff way too much, just like seeing things against christianity in almost everything that they look at. Always finding things that are not there.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Alright, so I am choosing another book aside from the options on my poll, because, the votes havent come to a majority yet. But I was at the library, and saw the book One Flew Over the Couckoo's Nest, and thought WOW I didn't know that was a book, so I had to go for it.
Anyway, the book is a classic, it came out in 1962, and was written by Ken Kesey. Now to my understanding I've heard that the other books that he's written are not that good, but I could be wrong. But no doubt, this is by far the most popular one that had come out.
It is about a man named Randle Patrick McMurphy, who is a rebel among society. He gets into some trouble and instead of being sent to jail, he is sent to the mental institution to find out if he is a little mentally insane. Being a normal man in a mental hospital, he naturally takes over the place, and being an outgoing person, also becomes friends with nearly all the inmates, he is staying with. Of course there is some run-in's with the head nurse, Nurse Ratched, who doesn't seem to give into anything, including anger. But there are some twists to the story and definetly owns up to it's classic name.
Obviously the book and the movie are a bit different, I've seen the movie a bunch of times, and love it. But according to some people and my own experience the book and the movie are not identical. Books, always have more details. Movie's just can't put everything into it from the book, they have to get rid of certain details, and possibly even change some scenes. Which sometime's is unfortunate, but we have to see reality, that's just the way somethings are.
Honestly, I loved the movie, and I'm sure that if other's see it in this day in age, would realize the same thing. I had first seen that movie probably when I was in 8th grade or so, and liked it. So go out and watch it if you want, it's a great movie, and the longer you wait means your truly missing out.

V and Terrorism

So in this post i'm going to explain if people would consider V a terrorist, or perhaps a hero?
I've seen a couple of cases like this one, for example: If you've ever seen the popular TV show called Dexter, then this is pretty much the same. Dexter is a serial killer but he only kills serial killers, he's got a code to go by in order to kill. He's been put in situations where he could kill someone, but they are innocent so he lets them go. Believe it or not, in the series, some people were saying that they wanted to leave the Bay Harbor Butcher alone, just to clean the streets. V is slightly different, he kills the people that he doesn't agree with politically. The people that are ruining the country obviously. But he might be a little worse than that. At times, throughout most of the movie, you notice that he kills the people that were running the psychward he was in. The people who were bad at the time. Now, this to me just seems more of like an addict. He's killing people of his past, because they were mean to him or others. So to me that doesn't seem right.
Now for the big question, Is V a terrorist? I would have to say yes. He fits everything that a terrorist is, he blows up buildings, he kills people for next to any reason that anybody else knows about. But some people would have said "let him do it." I guess it's a bit harder to enterprite than one would think. It just depends if your satisfied with your government, because I'm sure that some of the people would love or hate V. So my main point is this...V is a hero, but he's slightly a bit of a terrorist just for the fact that he's blowing up buildings that he does not need to blow up, and he's killing people that don't need to be killed, people that do not deserve it. I'm sure he started out with good intentions but eventually lost his groove when revenge came into his thoughts. V's not perfect, at least not in the eyes of Dexter.
This doesn't mean that V is a complete bad guy, he continues to blow up buildings for the true intention of fixing his country. Which I respect, because he is single handedly taking down the corrupt government of the British. If he were real I would have to support him and hopefully even aid him if given the chance, but only under the circumstance of what I would believe a corrupt government.

V for Christianity

So I was looking up some christian reviews on the movie V for Vendetta, and it seems that a lot of people are slightly disturbed by the scene where the pope guy (not sure what the real word for him is) liked to bring little girls in to have sex with them. In the movie Evey is brought in and the guy bringing her in says "sorry sir, I know shes a little older than your usual..." But in the end V kills him so it's not so bad.
But in my opinion, this whole thing isn't that bad, yes it has something to do with religion, but do people really have to freak because of something that little. News flash people, there have been priests out there that have had sexual relations with children, no matter how much you deny it, it is true. Also it makes me wonder if there are just people sitting on their couch going, "Oh, honey did you see that, they were totally dissing God right there. Wait, let me reweind it so you can see it again." That's just what it seems like to me. I know somethings can just be against christianity, but you don't have to go looking for it in things that it is not there. For example, when I was younger I used to go to a sunday school, I only went for 2 weeks because this place disturbed me. First we'd get there and go to a classroom for an hour, listen to our teacher talking the whole time. Now this guy had stuffed dead animals in his room, I know this can be a fun hobby, but not in a church, thats just wrong. He had all sorts of them, snakes, his dog, a pheasant, those are the only ones I remember but he had more. Anyway, after that hour we went into this big room with the rest of the kids, and the pastor would continue to preach at us for 2 hours or so. He'd pretty much tell us everything that is the devil. Like he took this kids pokemon cards away from him saying, "these are the devil, board games are the devil, and especially playing cards and video games are the devil!" I was thinking to myself, (I'm pretty sure this guy is crazy, pokemon cards are not the devil. It seems that fun is the devil). The story gets worse, but I'm not going to go into it. My point being that not everybody's perfect, not even religious figures.

V for Vendetta

So V for Vendetta was originally a comic, believe it or not, not very many people knew that. I didn't until just last year. But anyways, it was written by Alan Moore, in the mid 1980's or so, kind of displaying our future in 2020, where all the nuclear weapons have been destroyed, and the government has turned to being rather controlling. It also takes place in the United Kingdom, I personally want to say London, but I could be wrong.
The main characters in the book/movie are, V- a vigilante who terrorizes the government, trying to make a point across to the people. He is looked at as a hero.

Evey- the story is told from her perspective, but shes really just the one that gets stuck inbetween V and the Government. V teaches her his ways and his motives.

The rest are government official people and what not, a few side characters, but nobody too important.

Personally I liked the comic and the movie greatly. Speaking as someone with poor reading comprehension, I could concentrate on what I was reading, the only problem is the comic is super confusing. So be prepared to read it twice or even three times because you may not get it at first. To me that's one of the many things that I like about the series. I like that he does everything he does simply becasue of an idea "and behind this mask there is an idea Mr.Creedy...and ideas...are bulletproof!" That is an example (also my favorite line throughout the book and movie. But I strongly suggest the movie if anyone's interested in watching it, because it can bogle your mind and has pretty good fight scenes in it by the way. It's also got pretty good ratings on it, so I hope this helps.

Goodbye Harry Potter.

This will be my last post on the Harry Potter series, for anybody out there. So I will not be here to say much about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows part 2, when it comes out in April of 2011. I did read a news article about part 2 though. It says that the cast is supposed to be coming back together to do a reshoot. Apparently (for those of you that have read the 7th book), the last scene where all of them are supposed to look like adult parents, look to old. So after the cast said their final goodbyes a couple months ago, they had to come back together for this actual last shoot, of the series they all grew up with and loving. I find the story kind of sad, because me growing up with the Harry Potter series, actually when I was about 9 or 10, find that the whole cast has been together since then and probably will be kind of sad about leaving them. One more thing, yes, Emma Watson cut her hair...that is all.

So one last thing that we've all been trying to decide is, is Harry Potter good or bad to children? Should parents let their children watch or read this hero/horrific character. People say they shouldn't because it is against God and witchcraft and wizardry is against God (Salem Witch Trials). But then there are the people who say that Harry Potter can be a good lesson for their children. Like teaching them courage, friendship, and bravery. These traits are typically wanted for a child to learn among heroes, and to me that's what Harry Potter is...a Hero. Though him being born not wanting any of that, just wanting to be normal, he can't. He's got to face the music and beat his deadliest foe. He must face his fears to stand up to what nobody else could. That is something I would dream my child could do. So even if something like Harry Potter is a little impact on him, with these traits. I would hope that at some point, he would learn that this series of great books have them within, and picks up on them. And to all of you who are against these sorts of things, your shielding your children too much, I'm sure they want to be just like the other kids as well. They want to be normal, and watch something like Harry Potter, or read about him. He is a hero, even in a world that you would not like to accept, so is The Hunchback of Notre Dam, Cars, or Toy Story. I don't see anybody freaking out about those things. So why dis on Harry, he's a great figure to the world, that a lot of people love. Get past what your religion says and enjoy a good book for once.

Starting this weekend, I will be doing a new series, I'm deciding between the Chronicles of Narnia, Twilight, or the Lord of the Rings. But there's a chance I might not get around to it by this weekend so maybe even just making a post or two of a book adapted to a movie. So vote on my poll if you'd like to see anything specific.

Harry Potter and Christianity

Alright from my last post, I kind of want to go a little more into Christianity and Harry Potter. So I've been reading some reviews based on what christians have said about Harry Potter. Now it seems that a lot of parents have found themselves to ask this question, Is Harry Potter against God? The answer that some families have is yes, because of the "good" and "evil" aspect. Well if you look at it from a different viewpoint, it's not exactly like that. Yes, they kind of make Harry and his friends out to be the good people and Voldemort to be the bad one. But there are other things that make Harry Potter a positive. Such as, Harry's mother dying to save him. Or Harry showing courage, and facing his fears for the greater good. Doesn't some families want their children to possibly have these traits? I would. A negative that I would have to say about it would be if your child is too young to get a hold on themselves while reading these, like getting lost into the magical world they wish was real, it might not be for them until they are older.
Another thing that christians should keep in mind, is that in Harry Potter, of course they are learning magic like learning spells, reading crystal balls, or learning about magical creatures ex. Unicorn, but are those kinds of things the bad stuff? They aren't learning about talking to the dead at all so there's at least one thing.
I personally like the Harry Potter series, obviously, but I don't think that christians should hold that against their children, or not read the series. It is a great series, that is full of wonders, it always makes me a little happier when I'm done reading it. The story has many twists and turns that makes your mind wonder what's going to happen next which I like about it. To me there is no mention of God, or the devil, or anything about any religion. So why not read an excellent series. If you don't your really missing out.

Harry Potter the devil?

Alright, so of course there are rumors that Harry Potter is the devil. In my opinion I don't understand how this could possibly be true. Considering that out of all 7 books, not one mentions the bible, or God for that matter. So how is it people always relate things to the devil?
It seems to me that churches tend to do that a lot. When they don't agree with something, it's the devil. How can they say that? Their not God, I can guarantee that God didn't tell them to say that...I don't know, Pokemon Cards were the devil. I mean who can honestly believe in that? Remember I'm not trying to attack any religions or anything, these are just things that I think.
Anyway this is related to a story that I put on my links, about the Pope's exorcist calling Harry Potter the devil. In my opinion, this is complete bull. "You can tell by their behavior and their actions, from the horrors they committed and the atrocities that were committed on their orders. That's why we need to defend society from demons." That was according to Reverend Amorth, he compares them to Stalin and Hitler, which if anybody doesn't know, were totalitarian leaders. So answer this, can you make a good, nonpointless arguement about what Harry Potter has anything to do with this? Because, I can't think of one. It just seems to me that people are trying to make him seem like the devil to persuade people that the idea is bad. It goes against a religion, simply because theres magic. You know there's people that thought just like that a long time ago. It's called the Salem Witch Trials. That's where townspeople were killing random men and women that were rumored to have supernatural powers, or be magical. Now witchcraft can be practiced but if you ever look at any reviews, no psychics have ever come forward to claim the several million dollars that are out there. My point. Psychics aren't real, therefore people shouldn't be freaking out about things being the devil, when he isn't real. They're saying psychics are'nt real which obviously is the devil. So therefore the devil is not real. Just a simple case of Classical Psychology.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows

Alright so it has been a while since i've been on. Sorry for you all that are interested. But recent things have happened in the Harry Potter world in the last few weeks. First things first Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 1, came out on the 19th of November. Of course, i went and saw it opening night. Getting a ticket was definetly difficult, had someone who worked at the movie theatre to get me in... Anyways and the second thing that has happened lately was Emma Watson (Hermoine Granger), cut her hair off, it's as short as most mens out there. Now there is nothing wrong with that. I havent read anything on it, but so far what I think is that shes been cooped up making the Harry Potter movies for most of her life, and hasnt been able to do what she wants, for example cutting her hair short. So I could understand where she is coming from. But in all honesty she doesnt pull off the look, I hope she realizes that. But she can do whatever she wants so I guess it's whatever.
Back to the Deathly Hollows, it was a great movie in my opinion. Definetly better than any of the previous movies that have come out. I say this simply because it goes into the book in great detail. Which is awesome! The only beef i've got with the movie, is it leaves out some crucial points. For example, when Harry and the gang get back to the appartment in which Serius Black lived, Dumbledore forms from sand and asks them a question of some sort I don't quite remember. But in the movie, it was disappointing that Dumbledore formed and just rushed at them ghostily and bursts back into sand...thats it. They had more experiences with this weird subject. Thats just one example, nothing too big, but enough for me to notice a flaw.
But like I said, overall I liked the movie. You can't always expect everything from a movie, because they can't include everything. They have limited time and resources, and must do things the best that they can, sometimes leaving out some important details. But some do take it too far. For example, Dragonball Evolution. Now I'm not going to go into details, but that is one thing that I had to ask myself...Did they even watch one episode from the show?
